Grant & Scholarship ​Program

GCSA is committed to providing opportunities for personal and professional development through a $750.00 professional development grant, awarded to one GCSA member annually in the Fall, and an undergraduate scholarship program for students at GCSA member schools. 

Undergraduate Scholarship Program

The Gateway Career Services Association is proud to offer a scholarship opportunity to undergraduate students of GCSA member schools. ​

This scholarship is the direct result of efforts made by the GCSA to reward the students we serve and to highlight the connection between academic and experiential learning in career preparation. ​

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student and have completed 60 credit hours at a four-year institution or 30 hours at a two-year institution by December 2023.
  2. Institution of applicant must be a current member of the Gateway Career Services Association (GCSA). View GCSA member institutions here.
  3. Applicants must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0.​

Selection

Application materials will be reviewed by a panel of GSCA members. Essays will be evaluated on conformity to bulleted topics, clarity of thought, and correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Application Materials

NOTE: No reference should be made to the applicant’s first/last name or institution in the essay.
  1. Resume
  2. Unofficial transcript (an official transcript will be requested from candidates selected as finalists)
  3. A 500-word essay, typewritten and double-spaced (about two pages), addressing the following topics:
  • The role academics played in career preparation: knowledge, skills and competencies gained from major areas of studies and general
  • education requirements.
  • Observations, insights, knowledge, and/or skills gained from out of the classroom experiences as they relate to future career goals,
  • including but not limited to co-ops/internships, part/full time work, clubs/organizations, military participation, and/or athletics.
  • The nature of assistance the scholarship will provide.

GCSA Professional Development Grant

The Gateway Career Services Association Professional Development Grant is awarded at the Association's Fall Conference. 

This grant will be awarded in the month of October to one member of the organization to be used for attendance at local, regional, or national professional development events including but not limited to conferences, workshops, and seminars (virtual or in-person). The grant will be in the amount of $750.
